Ranchi: Six officers from Jharkhand’s non-civil services cadre have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The Union Ministry of Personnel has issued an official notification regarding their promotion.
Officers Promoted to IAS:
- Women & Child Development Department: Kanchan Singh, Sita Pushpa, Preeti Rani
- Energy Department: Vijay Kumar Sinha
- Labour & Employment Department: Dhananjay Kumar Singh, Lal Rajesh Prasad
21 Officers Appeared for the Interview, 6 Selected
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently conducted interviews for 21 officers from the non-civil services cadre, out of which six were found eligible for promotion to IAS. The UPSC recommended their names to the state government, and after Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s approval, the Ministry of Personnel, Government of India, issued the final notification. These officers will now receive fresh postings as IAS officers.
Seven Officers Promoted to IAS in December
Earlier, in December 2023, seven officers from the state administrative services were promoted to IAS. The promoted officers included Sudhir Bara, Anil Kumar Tirkey, Shail Prabha Kujur, Neelam Lata, Sandeep Kumar, Pashupati Nath Mishra, and Rajkumar Gupta.
Jharkhand Became the First State to Promote 24 IPS Officers at Once
In July 2023, Jharkhand became the first state in India to promote 24 police service officers to the Indian Police Service (IPS) in a single batch. Following their promotion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren felicitated the newly inducted IPS officers.
224 IAS Positions in Jharkhand, 40 Still Vacant
Jharkhand has a total of 224 sanctioned IAS positions, but around 40 posts remain vacant. Due to the shortage of IAS officers, several departments are functioning under temporary charge assignments, with some officers handling multiple roles. Addressing this issue, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had written to the Prime Minister regarding the need to fill these vacancies.
