Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) expressed disappointment with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Budget for 2025, claiming that Jharkhand was entirely neglected. The party stated that the central budget for 2025-26 has nothing for the state. JMM leaders accused the budget of overlooking Jharkhand and its people while focusing on other regions.
Manoj Pandey Criticizes Budget for Neglecting Jharkhand
In his response to the budget, JMM spokesperson Manoj Pandey remarked, “There is nothing proposed for Jharkhand in this budget. Neighboring Bihar has been allocated several projects, but Jharkhand and its people have been completely ignored.” He pointed out that Jharkhand’s mineral resources significantly contribute to the nation’s economy, yet the state was treated unfairly.
JMM Expected ₹1.36 Lakh Crore for Jharkhand
Pandey also mentioned that JMM had hoped for a ₹1.36 lakh crore allocation for Jharkhand, but there was no mention of it in the budget. He questioned why such neglect was shown towards the state.
Budget Focused on Bihar
While presenting the 2025-26 budget, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted several initiatives for Jharkhand’s neighboring state, Bihar. These included the establishment of a Makhana Board, financial aid for the Western Kosi Canal, and support for expanding the capacity of IIT Patna.
