Ramgarh: Passengers at Patratu railway station faced chaos and frustration on Tuesday when the Jharkhand Swarna Jayanti Express arrived but several sleeper coach doors remained locked from inside. Despite desperate attempts to board, many were left stranded as the train departed, leaving behind furious travelers.
With the crowd surging due to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, many were heading to Prayagraj and other destinations. However, when the train from Barkakana reached Patratu, passengers were shocked to find multiple bogies locked. Despite loud knocks and pleas, there was no response from inside. Frantic passengers also sought help from the train guard, but their requests were ignored.
“Pay ₹600 to Open the Door” – Shocking Bribery Demand
A shocking claim emerged from passengers, who alleged that some people inside the coaches demanded ₹600 to open the doors. Ramesh Sahu, a passenger, stated that two women even fell between the train and platform gap due to the locked doors, but fellow passengers rescued them.
Divyang passenger Deepak Kumar Singh, who was traveling to Palamu, said he struggled to board the divyang coach, but no one opened the door. No railway staff or security personnel came forward to help.
Ranchi-based Rama Singh shared a similar ordeal, stating she arrived at the station after meeting her relatives. As she tried to board, she found the door locked and was asked to pay ₹600 for entry. Despite repeated requests, even the train guard refused to intervene.
Several women passengers also alleged that station staff failed to assist them. Despite the distressing situation, the Patratu railway station master has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
