Motorcycle Rider Dies in Road Accident in Dhanbad, Locals Block Highway in Protest
A 27-year-old youth died in a road accident in Dhanbad. Locals protested by blocking the highway, demanding compensation for the victim’s family.
Dhanbad: A tragic road accident in the Govindpur police station area of Dhanbad resulted in the death of a 27-year-old youth, identified as Inzamam Ansari, a resident of Sarkardih. The incident occurred near Ratanpur Khalsa Hotel on the GT Road when an unknown vehicle hit the motorcycle, causing his immediate death. The second rider on the bike was injured and hospitalized for treatment.
The victim, Inzamam Ansari, was the nephew of Mujahid Ansari, the former Mukhiya of Matiyala Panchayat. Following the accident, enraged locals blocked both lanes of the Delhi-Kolkata Highway, demanding compensation for the victim’s family. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, which showed a trailer hitting the motorcycle and fleeing the scene.
The protesters placed the victim’s body on the road, leading to a standstill for several hours. Upon receiving the information, Govindpur Police Station Officer Mohammad Rustam, along with BDO Zahir Alam and local representatives, arrived at the scene. After much negotiation, the villagers were pacified, and the roadblock was cleared, allowing traffic to resume.
Speaking to the media, Officer Mohammad Rustam confirmed that the death was caused by a trailer hitting the motorcycle. He assured that the victim’s family would be provided with compensation as per government procedures and promised to address traffic management issues with senior officials.
