Pragya Kendra Services to be Offered at Online LAMPS and PACS in Jharkhand
Jharkhand’s Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari directed that Pragya Kendra services be offered at online LAMPS and PACS. 1,270 LAMPS-PACS have gone online, with more planned.
Ranchi : Jharkhand’s Chief Secretary, Alka Tiwari, chaired a meeting of the State Cooperative Development Committee on Monday. During the meeting, she was informed that 1,270 LAMPS (Large Area Multipurpose Cooperative Societies) and PACS (Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies) in the state have gone online. She directed officials to begin offering Pragya Kendra services at these online centers. Tiwari emphasized that cooperative development plans should be designed in accordance with the state’s resources and the needs of the maximum number of people. She also discussed the opening of cooperative bank branches in some districts, advising that banks should first strengthen their position before expanding.
1,270 LAMPS-PACS Now Online
The meeting highlighted that 1,270 of the state’s 1,500 selected LAMPS-PACS have been computerized and are now online. The goal is to computerize the remaining 230 societies by March 31. A proposal has been sent to the Government of India for the computerization of the remaining 2,949 LAMPS-PACS. For those already online, Pragya Kendra services will be provided, and the committee will be given access to the Jharseva login ID.
13 Lakh Quintals of Rice Purchased
It was also reported that 1,306,356.33 quintals of rice had been purchased from 724 procurement centers as of January 25, 2025. Considering the limited time for the purchase period, efforts are being made to activate the remaining 75 centers to meet the purchase target. In the financial year 2024-25, 65 out of 100 primary dairy cooperative societies have been registered, while 37 more are in the process.
Fish Production Reaches 2.57 Lakh Tons
For the financial year 2023-24, the target for fish production was set at 3 lakh tons, of which 2.57 lakh tons have already been produced. The production in 2022-23 was 2.80 lakh tons. Under the Amrit Sarovar Mission, efforts are underway to form fisheries cooperative societies in each district around newly developed ponds, with 33 out of 50 targeted primary fishery cooperative societies already formed.
Other Key Issues Discussed
The meeting also discussed several other topics, including warehouse construction, providing rooms to LAMPS-PACS, gas distribution, opening retail petrol and diesel outlets, establishing Jan Aushadhi Kendras in various districts, fertilizer licensing, developing LAMPS-PACS as PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendras, and transforming the newly built Cooperative Training Institute into an Institute of Cooperative Management in Jharkhand.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture Secretary Abu Bakr Siddique, Finance Secretary Prashant Kumar, Revenue Secretary Chandrashekhar, Rural Development Secretary K. Srinivasan, and Registrar of Cooperative Societies Suraj Kumar, among other officials.
