Jamshedpur: Eleven years after his father’s murder, Rohit Dixit avenged the killing by orchestrating the brutal execution of 35-year-old Santosh Singh near his home on Mango Gurdwara Road. A seven-member gang, including Ankit alias Brett Lee and Vimal Gop alias Takla, ambushed Santosh on January 19. As he tried to escape, running into a nearby house, the assailants relentlessly pursued and shot him dead on the spot.
Following an intensive investigation, Jamshedpur police have arrested five of the seven accused. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal, in a press conference, confirmed the arrests and revealed that weapons and ammunition had been seized. A special police team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters-1) Bhola Prasad Singh under the supervision of SP (City) Kumar Shivashish, tracked down three key suspects—Rohit Dixit, Shubham Kumar, and Vimal Gop alias Takla—on National Highway-33, recovering the scooter and weapons used in the crime.
Further, Vivek Kumar Tiwari alias Lakhi Tiwari and Ankit Sharma alias Brett Lee were apprehended from the Mango area for their role in planning and conducting reconnaissance before the murder. The police revealed that the killing was a revenge attack for the 2014 murder of Rohit’s father, Pashupati Nath Dixit, for which Santosh Singh had been convicted and served jail time.
Adding a political twist to the case, one of the accused, Jitendra Singh, had recently contested the parliamentary elections as an independent candidate but was unsuccessful. As investigations continue, police anticipate further revelations in this high-profile murder case.
