Shocking Jamshedpur Loot: Burglars Strip Residents of Wealth, History, and Honor
Masked thieves ransacked six Jamshedpur flats, looting ₹35 lakh in jewelry and cash. A priceless Presidential gold medal was stolen, leaving residents in shock and fear.
Jamshedpur: In a shocking burglary on Monday night, masked thieves broke into six flats in Rock Garden Society, located in the Prakash Nagar area under Govindpur police station. The burglars looted jewelry worth approximately ₹35 lakh and ₹1.5 lakh in cash. Among the stolen valuables was a prestigious gold medal awarded to a resident for winning a national competition, adding to the shock and distress of the victims.
Third Major Theft in Two Days Alarms Residents
This incident marks the third major theft in the area within two days, leaving residents in fear. Enraged by the repeated security lapses, locals staged protests and raised slogans against the builder. Upon receiving information about the burglary, Govindpur police, forensic experts, and City DSP Sunil Chaudhary rushed to the scene to begin their investigation.
Flats in Two Blocks Targeted
The burglars specifically targeted flats in the Topaz and Emerald blocks of the society. They broke into:
- Topaz Block: Flats 304, 401, and 403
- Emerald Block: Flats 104, 201, and 303
Residents Recount Their Losses
Padmalochan Mishra, a resident of flat 201, was away in his village with his wife when the theft occurred. His daughter, who lives in the society, informed him about the break-in. Burglars ransacked his house, stealing jewelry worth ₹12 lakh and cash. His wife fainted upon witnessing the damage.
Anil Kumar Sinha, a retired Tata Motors employee, also fell victim to the theft. His wife, a teacher in Odisha, was not present when burglars stole jewelry worth ₹7 lakh from their flat. Another resident, Ram Kumar Singh, lost jewelry worth ₹4 lakh while he was visiting his son in Bengaluru.
Gold Medal Stolen, Resident Devastated
MM Mahato, a resident of flat 104, suffered a particularly painful loss. Along with jewelry worth ₹2 lakh and ₹1 lakh in cash, burglars stole his gold medal awarded by the President of India in 1986 for securing first place in the All India Skill Competition during his Tata apprenticeship. Several of his silver medals were also stolen.
CCTV Captures Thieves in Action
Forensic teams collected fingerprints and other evidence from the scene. CCTV cameras captured the burglars in action, and police are analyzing the footage to track them down.
Security Concerns and Police Response
The repeated incidents have raised serious concerns about security in the society. Residents are demanding that the builder and society management enhance security measures without delay.
The police have registered a case against unknown suspects and are actively investigating the matter. City DSP Sunil Chaudhary assured residents that a special investigation team will be formed soon to apprehend the culprits.
