Terror of Wild Elephant in Bokaro: One Woman Dead, Two Injured

A wild elephant in Bokaro killed one woman and injured two others. The elephant roams four districts, and authorities have warned villagers to stay alert.

Bokaro : In a terrifying incident in the Pek Narayanpur police station area of Bokaro, a wild elephant trampled three villagers, resulting in the death of 40-year-old Suji Devi. The two other injured villagers are receiving treatment at Bokaro General Hospital and Sadar Hospital. The family of the deceased has been compensated with ₹3.75 lakh. Authorities have advised villagers to remain cautious.

The incident occurred near the Upper Ghat forest, where the elephant entered the populated area of Barai village. The elephant first attacked 50-year-old Kamarjahan Khatun, who was bathing at a well. It then proceeded to crush Manjaru Marandi and his 55-year-old wife Surji Devi in Chhotki Kundi village. Surji Devi suffered severe injuries and was taken to the Nawadih Community Health Center, where she later died.

The injured, Kamarjahan Khatun and Manjaru Marandi, are being treated at Sadar Hospital and the Community Health Center, respectively. Bokaro’s district forest officer, Rajneesh Kumar, confirmed that the family of the deceased has received ₹3.75 lakh in compensation.

The wild elephant is reportedly roaming across four districts – Hazaribagh, Giridih, Ramgarh, and Bokaro. It is speculated that the elephant is wandering due to the construction of the national highway. Authorities have warned villagers to stay alert, especially in villages near forest areas, using loudspeakers to raise awareness. The elephant is expected to remain in the area for the next 15 days.
