Giridih: In a significant breakthrough, Giridih Police arrested three cyber criminals from the Bengaabad area, seizing four mobile phones and five SIM cards from them. The criminals, identified as Adakat Ansari, Sameer Ansari, and Shamsud Ansari, were involved in fraudulent activities targeting pregnant women.
According to Giridih SP, Dr. Vimal Kumar, the trio had been deceiving expectant mothers by offering them benefits under the maternity scheme or threatening them with the closure of their Airtel Payment Bank accounts to extort money. The police were alerted to the scam through information received from the Pratibimb Portal, which indicated the involvement of these cyber criminals in the area.
Acting on the tip-off, a special team led by Cyber DSP Abid Khan was formed and conducted a raid in the Fursodia village in Bengaabad. During the operation, the team successfully apprehended the suspects while they were in the process of carrying out fraudulent activities. The criminals were found in possession of mobile phones and SIM cards used for the scam.
The arrest highlights the increasing vigilance of local law enforcement against cybercrimes and their ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable citizens from such malicious schemes.
