Ranchi : Chief Minister Hemant Soren fulfilled his promise by gifting homes to two of Jharkhand’s celebrated hockey players, Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan, in Ranchi. He handed over the documents for the allotment of 3750 square feet plots in the Harmu residential colony to these Olympic athletes. Additionally, the state government announced that it would provide ₹35 lakh each under the state’s sports policy to help them build their homes.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, “Today is a day of excitement. These daughters have not only made Jharkhand proud but have also brought honor to the entire country with their skills and dedication. For decades, the daughters of Jharkhand have showcased their talent in various fields, making a name for themselves in India and abroad.”
He further added, “This is a special moment for us, as the promise made during their struggling days is being fulfilled today. The government has always supported them, and we continue to introduce policies that offer young people and athletes better platforms for success.”
Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister. Salima Tete said, “It feels amazing today. When we do something with our hearts, success is bound to follow.” Nikki Pradhan shared, “After participating in my first Olympic Games in 2021, when I returned to Ranchi, the Chief Minister promised us land here in this very hall. Today, he has fulfilled that promise, and we are now able to fulfill our dream of having a home in Ranchi.”
The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Sudivya Kumar, MLAs Rajesh Kachhap and Bhushan Bada, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Principal Secretary of Urban Development & Housing Department Sunil Kumar, and Secretary of the Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs Department Manoj Kumar.
