Dhanbad : The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is gearing up to showcase its power and expand its influence, not only in Jharkhand but also in neighboring states. Special preparations are underway in Dhanbad and Dumka to celebrate the party’s foundation day on February 4th. Chief Minister Hemant Soren and MLA Kalpana Soren will be present at the event in Dhanbad, with confirmation already received by the district committee. After winning a strong majority in Jharkhand, this year’s foundation day celebration is expected to be on a larger scale. Both leaders and workers are excited for the event.
Dhanbad is the birthplace of JMM. It was here that Shibu Soren, Vinod Babu, and A.K. Rai founded the party. Over time, changes occurred, with A.K. Rai and Vinod Babu no longer being with us, and Shibu Soren, now elderly and unwell, unable to attend the event this year.
Event at Golf Ground
The event will take place at Dhanbad’s Golf Ground on February 4th. Traditionally, the event would start late at night and continue until morning, with attendees staying until Shibu Soren’s speech concluded. However, due to health reasons, Shibu Soren will not be present this time. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has shifted to daytime, and in 2025, it will start at 2 PM and end by 7 PM. Previously, it would begin at 8 PM and go on until the early morning. Preparations are already underway, and thousands are expected to attend.
It was on February 4th, 1973, that Shibu Soren, Vinod Bihari Mahto, and A.K. Rai established JMM at Golf Ground. Since then, the party has celebrated its foundation day in Dhanbad every year.
JMM’s Significant Electoral Success
Despite facing numerous challenges, Hemant Soren led the party and its alliance partners to victory. In the recent Jharkhand elections, BJP was reduced to just 21 seats, while JMM emerged as the largest party. This victory presents a perfect opportunity for JMM to expand beyond Jharkhand, especially into neighboring states. Efforts are already underway, with plans for JMM’s participation in the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections, where the party has identified seats it plans to contest. Encouraged by the success in Jharkhand’s 2024 elections, JMM is excited to continue its momentum and increase its presence in nearby states.
